Randy and Heidi Martin decided to sell all of their belongings so they could travel to all 50 states with their two children. Why would they do this? “Seeing all of America and seeing just how good people are in America, and the different regions and cultures,” Heidi Martin explained. The Florida family traveled more than 67,000 miles across the lower 48 states in a recreational vehicle, stopping at historical sites ranging from the Grand Canyon to the Empire State Building, the Liberty Bell, the U.S. Capitol, and more. The family also traveled by horseback, hot air balloon, cog train, boat and airplane, documenting their experiences and sharing them via social media and on their website. Both kids took online classes throughout the trip to keep up on schoolwork, but they also had the chance to learn first-hand throughout the trip. “I hope I’ve shown my kids if you have a big dream, you can do it,” Randy said.
