Tanya Zucherbrot, a registered dietician, explains that certain foods can help protect you from harmful UV rays because they are high in antioxidants. Foods like blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, apples and tomatoes are great summer snacks to help prevent skin damage caused by the sun. If you are already suffering from sunburn, foods that are rich in vitamins C and E, like avocados, peanut butter and ground flax seeds, can help to reduce the swelling and provide some much-needed relief.
