More men are stay-at-home dads than ever before, yet many of them still face the common misconception that they can’t fill the shoes of stay-at-home moms or can’t find better jobs. A study by Boston College’s Center for Work and Family has shown that stay-at-home dads are not only surviving, but thriving in their new roles, and, contrary to popular belief, many of them wanted to make the switch to fulltime caregiver. To keep stay-at-home dads from feeling disconnected or isolated, organizations like NYC Dads Group and the National At-Home Dads Network provide support, connecting dads to meetup groups, classes, social outings and other resources.
