Bob Votruba has traveled more than 60,000 miles across the country to accomplish one simple goal: “One million acts of kindness.” Vortuba wanted to champion kindness after the Virginia Tech shootings in 2007, so he sold his possessions and began traveling across the country in his live-in school bus to spread his mission. He believes that we live in a “post-it note” society in which people need constant reminders to participate in small acts of kindness, so he issues “kindness certificates” to people along his journey. Vortuba encourages simple actions that we all can do such as waking up with a smile, holding the door for a stranger or simply being nice to others to help spread kindness to the world.
