The Institute of Medicine recommended on Thursday that children get a full hour of exercise in school every day, both in and out of physical education class. The Institute said that schools that have done away with physical education need to re-introduce it into the curriculum. ”Children who are more active show greater attention, have faster cognitive processing speed, and perform better on standardized academic tests than children who are less active," said the Institute of Medicine's report.
